Streaming support in Metus Ingest
Stop Press! Streaming support has arrived at Metus Ingest! It’s a recorder.. It’s a transcoder.. And now, it’s a also a streamer/encoder!! H.264 streaming support arrives at Metus Ingest! Users can now also stream from their favorite capture application, during capture from the same source, or from any other source.
Streaming in Metus Ingest, works like any other capture profile that you add to an encoder (source), with the exception that instead of a file format, user selects a streaming format. Like with any other profiles, it is possible to add more than one streaming profile, or a mix of streaming and capture profiles to the same encoder. Which means, you can do one or several of the following at the same time:
- Capture in high quality MPEG/MXF/AVI, and stream in H.264 from the same source
- Capture and stream multiple channels from multiple sources
- Stream multiple qualities of H.264 from the same source
Many industry standard streaming protocols like UDP, RTSP, RTMP, SDP are supported so that the streams generated by Metus Ingest are compatible with your favorite application or streaming server.
It is also possible to define incoming IP streams as signal source, and capture to file, or re-stream at different quality
Streaming in Metus is able to benefit from the H.264 hardware acceleration supported by Metus, so that users can have up to 6-8 H.264 SD streams or 4 HD streams from the same system! (please check with us for recommended hardware and profiles)
